QUESTION 1: DESCRIBE THE METHOD USE IN MAKING HAIR RELAXER AND EYE PENCIL.

HAIR RELAXERS

Hair relaxers are agent used to relax or soften, refresh the texture and quality of the hair. Though, hair relaxer and it treatments are handle by a professional or skilled stylists. And are done mostly by ladies, though, these days men, especially young guys now involve in the craft of relaxing their hair.
The business can be very lucrative because 98 percent’s of ladies in the world make use of one brand of hair relaxer to the other. Though, there are a lot of brands of hair relaxer in the market today (Aremu, 2018).

REQUIREMENT

1) Mixers
2) Hydrometer
3) Stirrer
4) PH meter
5) Heater

RAW MATERIALS

1. Stearic Acid 50 grams
2. Petroleum jelly 15 kg
3. Lanolin 2.2 kg
4. Acetyl Alcohol 1.5 kg
5. Mineral Oil 12 kg
6. Caustic soda 1.9 kg
7. De-hydrated wax 50 kg
8. Glycerin or propylene glycol 1 kg
9. Butyl Paraben 0.2 kg
10. Water 44 litres
11. Formalin 0.5 litres

PROCEDURES

1. Set the mixer on the heater and turn it on.
2. Put the petroleum jelly into the mixer
3. Add lanolin to it.
4. Then add dehydrated wax, Stearic acid and acetyl alcohol into the mixture5. Add the mineral oil and heat mildly till they all dissolve and mixed uniformly.
5. Dissolve the caustic soda with a little quantity of water in a small mixer and divide it into two portions.
6. Also, dissolve the propylene glycol and butyl Paraben together in another separate small mixer
7. Also, dissolve the formalin in small quantity of water
8. Add one portion of the caustic soda solution into the propylene glycol and butyl Paraben and start heating mildly, until they have dissolved completely. Allow to cool.
9. Mix the mixture from 5 and 9 together and stir, and start heating mildly, continue stirring gently
10. When the temperature gets to 45 0C, turn off the heater and pour in the dissolved formalin
11. Add the remaining half of caustic soda solution to the mixture and stir gently
12. When the mixture cools down to room temperature, package ready for the market

NB: The reason why most relaxers are very corrosive is because of the caustic soda. If you test your product and find out that it is very corrosive on the scalp, do not fret. What you need to do in order to avoid that in your produce is to soak the caustic soda solution for 24 hours before using it. That will help reduce the corrosive tendency. This little secret is worth millions in cash as it will give your product a tremendous boost and leap in the market.

EYE PENCILLINE

This are products designed to apply colour to the eyebrows. They are used to fill in and define the eyebrows. They contain special ingredients that apply colour where it is needed in a precise and controlled manner.

First thing you need in making the eyebrow pencil is to get your base.

Then measured your colour (here we consider white titanium dioxide and mica) and sift it into a bowl. The colors are sifted together several times. Titanium dioxide has a 'larger grain size' than the mica and will show up as tiny specks in the product even after being thoroughly sifted together.

When the color is ready, the pencil base is measured out and put into a small beaker for melting. A syringe will be used to fill the pencils.
Then the base is heated very slowly until it is liquid. When the base is liquid, color is added and everything is stirred thoroughly.

The color is transferred to a disposable syringe and the pencils are filled.
After the pencils are completely set, they can be sharpened and are ready to go (Lisa, 2018).
